Michael Sy Uy’s scholarly research focuses on music and patronage, philanthropy, arts education, cultural policy, and expertise. His book, Ask the Experts: How Ford, Rockefeller, and the NEA Changed American Music (Oxford University Press) was published in 2020. His other work appears in the journals American Music, Journal of the Society for American Music, Journal of Musicology, and Music and Arts in Action.
He is the Allston Burr Resident Dean of Dunster House and Assistant Dean of Harvard College. Uy is an avid coxswain, runner, and indoor rock climber.
