Harvard Group for New Music: Duo XAMP

John Knowles Paine Concert Hall

Duo XAMP Concert poster featuring two people with cat heads playing accordions

Saturday, November 9, we invite you to join the Harvard Group for New Music in an evening of newly composed works for resident ensemble Duo XAMP. XAMP unites Fanny Vicens and Jean-Etienne Sotty in a musical creation project. Musically unclassifiable, artistically indomitable, they set out to discover new sounds with the composers of their time, revisit the music of the past, and amaze and delight their listeners.

In 2015, they revolutionized the musical landscape by creating two microtonal accordions, instruments with new scales and vibrations. Throughout their journey, they gathered two Arnold bandoneons, a sheng, and equipped themselves with electronic equipment: their instrumentarium is constantly evolving, multiplying the sound possibilities tenfold.

Featuring new works by:
Victor Arul
Darcy Copeland
Weilu Ge
Jelani Surpris
Yintao Wang

There will be a light reception following the concert in the Taft Lounge. All are welcome!
RSVP is requested (but not required) at this link (via Eventbrite).
