John Knowles Paine Concert Hall
With a focus on telling stories and sparking intimate musical connection between artist and audience, vocalist-bassist-composer Devon Gates (class of 2023) presents her octet of jazz rhythm section, string trio, classical guitar, and woodwinds, playing new, lush arrangements for her wide-ranging compositions and arrangements that bridge worlds of contemporary jazz, chamber, and soul sounds. Playing with friends she met as a student in the Harvard/Berklee dual degree program, Devon’s music has been described as a “warm hug”, embracing listeners and bringing them into an ethereal journey they won’t soon forget.
