Juyuan Feng
Juyuan Feng earned his B.A. in musicology from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in music theory at Harvard University. Before college, he trained as a professional violist in Shanghai. His research centers on the history of music theory, with a particular focus on the cross-cultural recontextualization of Western theoretical concepts. His work also engages with fourteenth-century motets, orality in medieval monophony, and the intellectual history of ethnomusicology. He has presented his research at the International Medieval and Renaissance Music Conference (MedRen) three times, as well as at the Leeds International Medieval Congress, the Society for Ethnomusicology (SEM) Annual Meeting, the World Conference of the International Council for Traditions of Music and Dance (ICTMD), and the International Computer Music Conference (ICMC), among others.
