Professor Vijay Iyer releases album "Thereupon" with Fieldwork

On September 5, 2025, Professor Vijay Iyer's collective trio Fieldwork released their latest album, "Thereupon." Fieldwork, described by The New York Times as "provocatively collaborative and thoroughly modern," is comprised of pianist Vijay Iyer, saxophonist Steve Lehman, and drummer Tyshawn Sorey.

Their music reflects each member's ties to American jazz tradition, modern composition, African and South Asian musics, underground hip-hop and electronica, and the influential music of Chicago’s A.A.C.M.. Together they conjure a dense, visceral musical world with a persistent, mysterious inner logic.
