Harvard Group for New Music: Trio Abstrakt
Date and Time
Location
Trio Abstrakt is a love letter to new chamber music. For over eight years, the ensemble has devoted itself with the utmost precision and dedication to demanding contemporary chamber music from the last three decades. As the creative home of musicians Salim(a) Javaid (saxophone), Marlies Debacker (piano), and Alexandre Ferreira Silva (percussion), the trio combines chamber music tradition with a continuous engagement with the present.
The ensemble aims to bring “music of today” to life, relying on a non-hierarchical collaboration with composers. In this collaborative process, extensive new works emerge that explore the sonic possibilities of modern chamber music performance.
Trio Abstrakt performs at festivals and international organisers of contemporary music, including the Biennale di Venezia, Milano Musica at Teatro alla Scala, Acht Brücken Köln, WDR Funkhaus, PGNM Biennale Bremen, NOW! Festival at the Philharmonie Essen, Mozartfest Würzburg, CNDM Madrid, Mostra Sonora Sueca, Impuls Graz, March Music Days Ruse, ZKM Karlsruhe, Klangzeit Münster and aDevantgarde Festival Munich.
It has been supported by the InSzene funding program of Podium Gegenwart / Deutscher Musikrat and currently receives support from the Ensembleförderung NRW and the Manfred und Ursula Müller Stiftung.
