Davindar Singh presents "From Market Corruption to Musical Collusion: The Patronage and Music of Punjabi Logistics, 1925-2025."

This dissertation follows a century of efforts in Punjab province to expand or halt supply chains of foodgrains and illicit resources, and to do so by using music. It argues that political figures in Punjab have especially sought to characterize, and thereby shape, the political properties of music at moments when the pecuniary calculations of supply chain logistics overlap with the moral calculus of patronage, inclusive of patronage’s illicit equivalent, corruption.
