DESCRIPTION:<p>Join&nbsp;David&nbsp;Ibbett, Resident Composer at the Center for Astrophysics | Harvard &amp; Smithsonian and Assistant Professor at WPI, to discover the art and science of sonification – the art of translating data into sound.&nbsp;</p><p>David&nbsp;is the composer of Black Hole and Mars Symphonies and the Director of Multiverse Concert Series, and employs the technique of sonification as a powerful tool for connecting with audiences.&nbsp;David&nbsp;will perform live-composed sonifications, before breaking down how composers can use these techniques in their work.</p><p>Learn how spectra from galaxies can be translated into harmonies, nebula topologies into lyrical melodies, and Mars samples into orchestrations. After the presentation,&nbsp;David&nbsp;will conduct a workshop on sonification, inviting all to experiment with the techniques in a hands-on format.
